The Children’s Study Home offers a variety a special education programs for children and adolescents in the the Berkshires and Pioneer Valley. We know that no two children are exactly alike, and each has their own individual needs. To that end, we offer a variety of supports both educationally and therapeutically.

Our Mill Pond Springfield Campus consists of two buildings, one for Mill Pond School and a second building housing the Curtis Blake Day School. Our Berkshire Campus consists of the Mill Pond School, located in Richmond, MA.

Mill Pond School, Springfield

The Mill Pond Middle & High School was established in 1976 and has since served hundreds of adolescents with behavioral and emotional challenges.  The Mill Pond staff develops a comprehensive individualized plan for each student.  Students receive academic, therapeutic, and extra-curricular services that help each student achieve their identified goals and eventually move on to other challenges, better prepared to cope and conquer the challenges they face.

We are dedicated to helping students who experience social-emotional and/or behavior issues as well as learning difficulties.

Our strategies help students manage the vast quantities of data facing children every day in this digital age.  Understanding and being able to effectively communicate are the goals, rather than rote memorization of facts.  Using this strategic approach, we teach our students how to effectively learn, which, in turn, enables them to learn to succeed.

At the Curtis Blake Day School all aspects of the curriculum focus on gaining access to and communicating the message through language intervention.  “Language functions as a powerful interactive tool that allows us to construct and convey meaning in our efforts to communicate”  (Education Today, Massachusetts Department of Education, May 15, 1995).

The Children’s Study Home is committed to a work environment in which all individuals are treated with respect and dignity.  In accordance with 603 CMR 26.01(1), The Children’s Study Home does not discriminate against students or staff on the basis of race, color, sex, gender identity, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, disability or homelessness.  A copy of this notice will be included in the forms sent prior to the beginning of each year as well as to families of newly enrolled students.  This information is included in Parent/Student Handbooks and Employee Handbooks.
